RSS Guide
RSS stands for Really Simple Syndication and is the name given to information feeds which can be automatically sent to a web user. RSS news feeds provide an easy way of receiving new web content as soon as it is published.
Why use RSS?
RSS feeds allow you to automatically receive online content that is of specific interest to you. Information feeds from different websites can be collected together through an RSS reader, saving you from having to continually browse your favourite sites.
Subscribing to one of our feeds is a great way of keeping up to date with the latest SWGfL news, press releases and event information.
How do I use RSS feeds?
Receiving an RSS feed first requires a feed reader. A reader is the piece of software that checks for new content on a chosen website and provides you with the latest articles as they are published. There are many different readers, some of which are downloadable applications which store feeds on your computer, whilst others present your selected feeds through the web browser. Some popular browser-based feed readers include Google Reader and Bloglines, whilst NewsCrawler and FeedDemon are commonly used downloadable alternatives.
Once you have selected a reader, simply select the feeds that you wish to receive. A feed can be added to your reader by clicking an icon similar to the one shown or by copying the URL (website address) of a feed and pasting it into the reader.
Feeds on this website can be added by clicking on 'SWGfL News feed' which appears in the 'More Options' box on the left when a feed is available.
